Touch of Beauty

Accessible Makeup Design for the Visually Impaired - UI/UX & Product Design
Spring 2025
Project Overview
Touch of Beauty is a product and application system that aims
to bridge a gap between accessibility and the makeup industry.
More specifically, it focuses on visual impairments and provides
an aid in the active application of makeup
through tactile
and auditory cues. In addition, the use of a facial scan provides
real-time feedback by calling out any errors in the process.
While the UI can be used on its own in an "app mode", a smart mirror overlay can be attached to the screen to create a new, versatile experience for makeup users through the "mirror mode"
Purpose
To design a system for people with visual impairment that helps reduce confusion and frustration within makeup application.
This system fosters independence in completing daily, personal tasks. Through the use of various sensory cues, visually impaired users are able to apply makeup faster and more confidently, opening up the community to more people. Further, Touch
of Beauty broadens the market through an interchangeable, smart mirror interface, allowing people with various capabilities to explore and practice makeup.
